Welcome to

Where personal transformation isn’t a buzzword. It’s a lived, breathed journey.

I am Mette, a cognitive psychotherapist and mindfulness instructor, passionate about guiding you on your path to self-discovery and inner leadership.

I am from Denmark and my name is typical Danish:

You say it almost like you would say medi in meditation, hence Mettetation.

Life can bring challenges and I understand that deeply

My own life journey took a significant turn when I was diagnosed as a chronic pain patient due to accidents and broken bones. The head doctor at the pain clinic gave me two options: strong medication, typically used to treat epilepsy, or mindfulness.

“I think I’ll try this mindfulness-thing first” was my response. And it became my source of healing.

This transformative choice not only changed my life – I’m no longer at chronic pain patient – but also ignited a deep desire to support others even more in their struggles.

Earlier on in my life, I also experienced stress. Twice. Since then, I have spent my working life preventing others from experiencing the same.

I believe that every challenge can be transformed into a stepping stone to greater understanding and strength.

In my own case, it has enabled me to provide the tools and practices that help others navigate life’s complexities with both grace and strength.

My mission is to empower people to thrive, creating a life filled with meaning, joy, and a strong inner leadership.

Mindfulness is an integral element in my private life and a tool in all my presentations.

Jon Kabat-Zinn and Mette B. Lorenzen, “MBSR in Mind-Body Medicine”, 2014

I am a certified mindfulness instructor MBCT.

In 2014, as an instructor, I completed 100 hours education at the 7-day Residential Training Program “MBSR in Mind-Body Medicine” with Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli, the co-founder of mindfulness.

Since then, I have received regular training in mindfulness and meditation from Saki Santorelli, and since 2022 on a weekly basis.

My background

I have a versatile professional background that spans a wide range of fields. For 10 years, I have run my own clinic as a cognitive psychotherapist and had 6.000 sessions with clients, while also delivering stress-prevention talks and courses throughout Denmark.

Previously, I worked as a consultant in a company that, in collaboration with job centers and psychiatry services, helps people with mental health diagnoses return to the labor market.

I have also served as a supervisor in a cognitive basic training program, in a mindfulness instructor program, and have supervised caseworkers and substance abuse counselors in municipal settings for years.

As a practitioner in a nationwide psychology company, I have worked with young people, and I have also acted as an educational advisor and mentor for particularly vulnerable individuals in Odense Municipality.

My experience also includes board and hiring committees in associations and institutions, European cooperation projects, as well as teaching French, Danish, and English as a boarding school teacher. In addition, I have held a number of practical jobs, including bartender, porter, horticultural worker, stage technician, and chambermaid.

My theoretical background includes qualifications as a cognitive psychotherapist MPF, a certified cognitive coach, and a mindfulness instructor. I am a NADA acupuncturist, hold a diploma in educational, vocational and career guidance, as well as one in developmental and personality psychology, and I am originally educated as a teacher. In recent years, I have also completed a number of trainings in ancient methods of inner leadership.

My broad experience and theoretical background shape my approach to my work and my books. I work from practical, grounded methods based on real-life experience, and when I run workshops and write about stress prevention and the good life, I focus on what actually works in everyday life.

As a person with a deep interest in our inner lives and resources, I integrate ancient wisdom with modern therapeutic practices, creating a warm and supportive environment for growth through my meditations, books, sessions, talks and workshops.

I do talks and workshop on stress prevention world wide. I do mindfulness and meditation sessions in companies and on conferences. I also do consulting work in companies and sessions 1:1 with both leaders, employees and private clients.

Books

I am an author of two evidence based books on stress prevention and upbringing and relationships, have more books on the good life coming.
